Harvesting your food is the best part. There is nothing healthier then garden food. Each type of vegetable can be harvested at a different time of the summer, which is good because harvesting all your garden food at one time would be overwhelming.
Storing
Most garden vegetables can be either frozen or canned for storage. We eat about half our garden food throughout the summer and store the other half for eating throughout the rest of the year.
Here is a website that shares videos about how to can and store garden food.
Eating
Everyone loves to eat fresh garden food. The primary foods that we store are Tomatoes and Pickles. We use the tomatoes to make homemade spaghetti and pizza sauce. Tomatoes are very versatile and can be used in many recipes.
We also make homemade concentrated juices from rhubarb and grapes, which we drink throughout the year - very tasty.
Local Community Gardens
Another way to take advantage of gardening is to get involved with a community garden Here is a website/blog that provided updates about all the community gardens in the St. Cloud, MN area.
Another great resource is the Master Gardener program at the local Extention Office. They provide monthly workshops and many types of garden training opportunities.
Our Goal is to help you plant and grow your own vegetable garden.
